Water Valley, TX – November 7th, 2024 – In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Water Valley High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) members stepped up to help local seniors enjoy a festive meal this holiday season. On November 7th, NHS students volunteered with Meals for the Elderly, assisting in packaging and delivering Thanksgiving meals to senior citizens in the community.
The students helped package a total of over 600 meals, including traditional Thanksgiving dishes like turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. They also made 20 deliveries to seniors in the area, ensuring that local elderly residents could enjoy a warm holiday meal in the comfort of their homes.
The NHS students worked alongside Meals for the Elderly volunteers to prepare and deliver the meals, taking time to interact with the seniors and bring some holiday cheer.
This volunteer effort is part of NHS’s ongoing commitment to community service, a value that is deeply ingrained in the organization’s mission. The students' participation in delivering Thanksgiving meals is just one of many ways they give back throughout the year.
Through their volunteer efforts, the Water Valley NHS students have once again demonstrated the true meaning of Thanksgiving—coming together to help others and make their community a better place for all.
