veteran's day

Members of the National Honor Society (NHS) at Water Valley ISD played a key role in this year’s celebrations. They spent weeks gathering information about local veterans and veterans connected to Water Valley families, creating a meaningful tribute to their service. The day before Veteran's Day, the NHS members visited the Water Valley Cemetery, where they placed American flags at the graves of these honored veterans, ensuring their memory and service were recognized. They were able to place about 53 flags. Mrs. Nona Williams was able to assist the NHS in finding all of the Veterans located in the cemetery.

"Thank you to everyone in our community for sending pictures and information to honor your loved ones.  We have the freedoms we do today because of all the sacrifices made by the ones in the video and many, many others that have served our country.  The Water Valley National Honor Society and Water Valley ISD pays tribute to all Veterans today." - Jennifer Sims, National Honor Society Sponsor

"Veterans Day is particularly special to me because of the veterans in my family, including my husband, Richard Wheeler. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to our NHS sponsors and members for taking the time to honor our local veterans in such a special and meaningful way. I am proud of these teachers, students, and this organization for the work they are doing this year in their demonstration of the pillars of the National Honor Society." – Dr. Danella Wheeler
